9½ Jane Street

This jewel box property built in 1855 is one of a handful of rear townhouses remaining in the West Village. The charming Greek revival home is not on the street, but sits at the end of an old horse walk with a private courtyard. Blesso Properties purchased the building at a very attractive price; it had been divided into four nondescript studio apartments and was generating minimal rental income. Painstakingly, Blesso has revived the property’s single-family elegance with a modern touch. The home now has three wood-burning fireplaces plus the original winding staircase, an English kitchen leading to the courtyard, and the highest quality finishes including heated limestone floors and Italian cabinetry with marble countertops. Like Blesso’s other project down the street, 9½ Jane sold for a per-square-foot price that puts it within the top five highest sales ever for a downtown townhouse.
