LEADING FOR KIDS IN NEED
FAB
FOURTH ARTS BLOCK (FAB) is a non-profit organization that leads the development of the East 4th Street Cultural District, the only official cultural district in Manhattan. Through improving the facilities of East 4th Street, conducting streetscape improvements and collaborating with the block’s artistic and cultural institutions as well as its commercial businesses, FAB enhances the vitality of the district while retaining its local character. Matthew Blesso is a founding member of FAB’s Leadership Board, galvanizing New York City business leaders committed to the arts. The Leadership Board works in tandem with FAB’s membership, developing new strategies that build audiences and support for this district.
Dixon Place
DIXON PLACE has been a premier NYC venue and laboratory for performing and literary artists, and has been dedicated to supporting the creative process by presenting original works of theater, dance and literature at various stages of development. This year, they will move into their new home at 161 Chrystie Street in Manhattan and Blesso Properties is the lead sponsor for the opening of this state-of-the-art new facility.
Citizen’s Housing and Planning Council (CHPC)
Matthew Blesso serves on the Board of Directors of the CITIZENS HOUSING AND PLANNING COUNCIL (CHPC) promoting New York City’s Best Practices, ensuring that our City remains at the forefront of international public policy initiatives. The leadership on the Board is continuously seeking new and inventive ways to best showcase CHPC’s unique work, keeping up with fast-paced multimedia innovation. CHPC continues to develop its fundamental, strategic analysis to shed light on challenges and opportunities and develop practical, public/private solutions to improve the quality of life in New York City, one neighborhood at a time.
DOE Fund (Ready Willing and Able)
For over fifteen years, the DOE FUND has worked to help homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals achieve permanent self-sufficiency. Their mission is to develop and implemnt cost-effective, holistic programs that meet the needs of a diverse population working to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and criminal recidivism. In keeping with his desire to support institutions that help New Yorkers thrive, Matthew Blesso donated $50,000 to support the organization’s growing programs.
The Institute for Urban Design
Matthew Blesso is on the Board of Directors of this organization. For thirty years the Institute for Urban Design has positioned itself as a central platform for debate over issues related to urban planning, development, and design. By creating a common territory for architects, planners, policy-makers, developers, academics, journalists, and urban enthusiasts, we acknowledge that to ensure quality in planning and urban design, a dialogue must emerge that represents the diversity of stakeholder voices affected by urban development.
